BMW Motorrad has been competing in the Dakar Rallye since its first appearance in 1980 with the legendary R 80 G/S. Since then, the Boxer engine has seen an astonishing revolution to offer the awesome torque and the amazing sound that the 2012 R 1200 GS offers. This endurance machine which seems to keep going and going has improved once again, with a stunning new paint work which has been designed to impress.
The R 1200 GS Rallye is the perfect combination of nostalgia and ultramodern technology, utilising the same colour scheme which helped Dakar legends such as Gaston Rahier conquer the infamous race, whilst maintaining the sophisticated Automatic Stability Control (ASC) and Electronic Suspension Adjustment (ESA) technology currently available on the unstoppable R 1200 GS.
