The Buildbase BMW Motorrad team's British Superbike rider, Barry Burrell took a top-ten finish in today's first BSB race at Snetterton, with Dan Linfoot taking two 11th places. Steve Brogan finished fourth in a difficult Superstock 1000 race, which saw him run off the track but rejoining the race and scoring vital points.
In the first of the day's two BSB races, Barry Burrell secured his best BSB finish to date, bringing his BMW S 1000 RR home in 10th place. Team mate Dan Linfoot finished just behind in 11th position.
Both riders set impressive lap times during the first race, which saw them improve significantly on their grid positions for the second, with Barry starting from 17th in the first and 13th in the second; and Dan from 20th and 14th.
In the second race, both riders capitalised on their improved starting positions, with Dan Linfoot securing a second 11th place finish. Barry Burrell was running in ninth place, which would have been his best finish to date, but was forced to retire to the pits following a clutch cable failure.
Steve Brogan finished one place off the Superstock 1000 podium in a hard-fought race. On the eighth lap, he was hit mid-corner by another rider and had to regain control and rejoin the race. Brogan fought his way back up and finished fourth. Howie Mainwaring came off his bike earlier in the race, but was unhurt.
Stuart Hicken, team principal, said: "It's been a good day's racing for the team. Barry Burrell was on fantastic form, earning his best BSB finish ever with 10th place in the first race. He was on for an even better finish, running ninth in the second, when he was denied by something as mundane as a clutch cable snapping. While the latter result may leave something to be desired, his ever-improving times and performance most certainly don't.
"Dan Linfoot also delivered two very solid performances, with a double 11th-place finish, which moves him up in the BSB Championship. Steve Brogan was equally impressive, somehow managing to stay on when he was hit so hard by another rider that it left black tyre marks on his forks, calipers and fairing! He went on to finish fourth, keeping the Superstock 1000 championship still very much within his reach. Unfortunately, Howie had a harder weekend, coming off his bike during the race. Thankfully he didn't cause any further damage his collarbone, so he'll be raring to go at the next round at Knockhill."
The next fixtures in the BSB and Superstock 1000 calendar will be held at Knockhill in Scotland on 22-24 June.
